On June 8-9, 2019, thousands of runners from around the world will ‘Run Paradise’ in the latest edition of the Laguna Phuket International Marathon at Asia’s most popular family-friendly destination marathon.
Along with the full-on 42km marathon (18yrs +) there’ll be a 21-km half-marathon (16yrs +) and 10-km run (13yrs +), 10km run (13yrs +), a five-km community walk (all welcome) and a two-km children’s race (up to 12yrs), so there really is something for all participants. It’s a colourful and friendly morning in a beautiful green location with plenty of excitement, refreshments, lots of parking and best of all – it’s for a good cause.
Taking part will be runners of all ages and abilities on a mainly flat (but still challenging) course that passes through rubber and pineapple plantations, past beach views, local villages and the tropical lagoons of Laguna Phuket itself – all in a family-friendly carnival-like atmosphere.
There’s even a theme song for the event called ‘Run Paradise’ that celebrates the event’s unique blend of enthusiasm for running and community fund-raising on Phuket – all to an inspiring up-tempo beat performed by local teenage band, ‘Legends of Siam’.
Both runners and spectators alike can join fund-raising for the Laguna Phuket Foundation, which supports a number of community and schools charity initiatives. Athletes booking their slots in Laguna Phuket’s 2019 marathon and triathlon series are being asked to raise funds through donations and sponsorships for the resort’s long established Laguna Phuket Foundation aimed at collecting one million baht per year to operate its various charitable programmes.
It’s the latest project in Laguna Phuket Foundation’s ongoing Developing Sustainable Schools Programme that has benefited hundreds of school children in Phuket and neighbouring provinces.
